Thursday 17 November 2016

Le jeudi 17 novembre 2016.

Dear Parents,

Another busy week!

I just wanted to give you the template again to have your child follow this format during the week. Your child is encouraged to hand me their sheet of 20 sentences for me to correct and give feedback. By doing this activity, your child will build vocabulary and improve his/her spelling.

In class, your child is encouraged to speak French on a daily basis.

Monday:  Write 20 sentences.  (Your child is encouraged to use adjectives to describe). Have your child bring in the sentences to get corrected.
For example: Le gros chien noir marche dans la grande forêt.

Tuesday: Read 15 minutes out loud.

I would like to reinforce the importance of having your child read out loud. By reading out loud, your child is listening to his/her voice (pronunciation) of the words and can start correcting himself/herself.

Wednesday: Watch a French television show.

The more exposure=comfortable in understanding the language.

Thursday: Go online and play a French activity.

It is always fun!

Bonne soirée!

Mme Mathieu

Goals for the month of November 2016

Good morning,

It is hard to believe that we are starting our third month of school. Your child is learning so much. I am pleased to see how passionate your child is on learning new things. I would like to thank this opportunity to thank you in supporting your child in his/her learning a second language. It's by doing extra at home, that your child will expand, cherish & excel. I encourage you to continue to have your child play French games, read, write & speak French on a regular basis. Please refer to the plan:

Monday:  Write 20 sentences.  (Your child is encouraged to use adjectives to describe). Have your child bring in the sentences to get corrected.
For example: Le gros chien noir marche dans la grande forêt.
Tuesday: Read 15 minutes out loud.
Wednesday: Watch a French television show.

Thursday: Go online and play a French activity.

GOALS FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER:

FIRST GOAL: To memorize 'In Flanders Field' before November 11th. Your child will be presenting this poem during our Ceremony this year.

In Flanders Fields
by John McCrae, May 1915
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
Nous sommes morts
Nous qui songions la veille encor'.
À nos parents, à nos amis.
C'est nous qui reposons ici
Au champ d'honneur.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

SECOND GOAL:
-Your child is responsible to read 20 books during the month of November. If your child decides to borrow a class book, he/she needs to return right away as I have several students. In each bubble, your child needs to write the title of his/her book and you need to initial that your child read the book out loud to you. Merci.

NOM:_________________________

Dans chaque cercle, tu dois écrire le titre de ton livre et demander à tes parents de signer chaque cercle.
N’oublie pas de lire à haute voix.

Bonne journée!

Mme Mathieu
